Birth Doula

Beginning in pregnancy, we will meet at least two times to determine what your optimal birth would look like. Discussing your desires - not just what you are told you should expect - for your labor and delivery. When the time comes for baby to arrive, I will meet you at the desired birthing place and begin labor support. Labor support can look many different ways - physical support (intentional position changes, foot rubs, hip squeezes, cool wash cloths, etc.) emotional support (sitting with you, witnessing you, listening to needs, fears) nutritional support (offering nutritive teas and snacks during early labor and after birth). Instead of being there to replace a partner or support person, I can be an added layer of trained support that will help facilitate the flow state of labor, hold space for the birthing person, and witness the birth of a mother.

2 prenatal visits (1 hour each), labor support, 1 postpartum visit (1 hour)

Postpartum Doula

As a postpartum doula, I support women and families during the transformational time immediately after a baby arrives. It has been said that when a baby is born, so is a mother; I will be there to help “mother the mother”. Providing individualized support to help clients find confidence and guidance so that they are able to tune out the noise of “parenting experts” and tune into the innate wisdom of how to mother their child. Creating a peaceful environment so that mothers can take the needed time to rest and bond with their new baby. Services that I offer for postpartum mothers and their families can include:

  • Meal planning and prep

  • Emotional support

  • Debriefing from labor and delivery

  • Warm oil kneading to help with fluid movement in the body

  • Breathwork and yoga for the pelvic floor and lymphatic movement (as appropriate in the early postpartum time)

  • Encouraging new parents to feel confident in caring for their newborn

  • Herbal recommendations and support (teas, tinctures, steams, etc)

  • Lactation support and recommendations for trusted lactation consultants if choosing to breastfeed

  • Feeding support if choosing to bottle feed

  • Helping to facilitate bonding with the new baby

  • Infant massage techniques

Weeks 1 and 2 - 2 visits/week

Weeks 3-6 - 1 visits/week

***The typical amount of time for postpartum visits is 3-4 hours.  The schedule can be arranged in a way that works best for you.

***Postpartum doulas are for anyone adjusting to caring for a new baby or kiddo - this service is open and encouraged for adoptive parents as well!

Postpartum Planning Session

Expecting parents know how exciting it is to think about labor and birth, making those plans and preparing their minds and bodies for the experience of the birth of their baby! Then the baby arrives and you go home from the hospital or the midwife leaves and new parents can sometimes feel under prepared and/or under supported - even if there are many family members or friends around asking if there is anything they can do to help. During a Postpartum Planning Session, we will go over the reality of what recovering from birth, learning to feed, and taking care of a new baby actually looks and feels like. If you have a partner, we will discuss communication skills that are vital to making sure you both stay on the same team, even when the sleep schedule is not ideal. We will plan out support, meals, and resources, so that you can ask for help as soon as you need it, not waiting until you feel the effects of being under supported. We will also go over tasks that can be outsourced to your community of support or paid support, so that the only thing that you need to worry about during your early postpartum days are healing and falling in love with your baby.

These planning sessions can be in person or via video call.

1 hour planning session, $60

2 hour planning session, $100
